Engaging Hinduism: Rethinking Christian Apologetics in India

Foreword In India, at this very moment, contemporary Neo-Hinduism is attempting to move India in the direction of a homogeneous, unanimous commitment to Hinduism. This has led to a lot of serious concern and even opposition in the circles of many Indians who belong to faith communities which are not Hindu, for example, Muslims and Christians.

Indian Christians are facing a critical period in the history in their country. How should they react? Most are reacting by siding with those forces in India which are resisting the moves to eventually make Hinduism the sole religion of the land, the sine qua non of Indian citizenship and Indian identity. Christians are, in various ways, making their concerned voices heard, along with others, among them many Hindus, who are also disturbed at what is going on.
