About the Author
Bidyut Lata Ray, (b. 1947) studied in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, M.A. in Sanskrit, Oriya and Hindi, Ph.D. in Sanskrit from Utakal University. She is presently working as Reader and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Ramamani Mahavidyalaya, Kantabad, Khurdha district of Orissa. She is the life member of All-India Oriental Conference, Vishveshvarananda Vedic Research Institute, Punjab, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Poona and Sree Sarada Education Society (Research Centre), Chennai. A good number of research papers of her on the topics of Jagannatha-Cult and Vedic and puranic studies have been included in various scholarly journals and anthologies. Seven of her monographs have been published so far to her credit. She is presently engrossed in the fields of the Veda, the purāņas, Jagannathism and comparative religion.
