Towards a Local Tribal Church: An Anthropological and Missiological Exploration of the Jesuits among the Santals

Foreword We human beings live in a time of great insecurity where humanity is faced with many grave threats and challenges; from climate change to political instability, de-culturation of cultures or even their extinction (as is happening in the Indian tribal culture), from species extinction to poverty, financial crisis and warfare. Fear has eaten its way into the human psyche. The rise of fear is more intense today than ever before in history. From this perspective, we human beings are in great crisis. Although this crisis can mean danger, change and transformation are also possible. Thus, we human beings are at a crossroad; our future depends on how we choose and deal with the situations in which we are.
