Book Description

About the Book
Misplaced Objects and Other Poems features 85 poems by K. Satchidanandan selected by the poet himself from his Sahitya Akademi Award winning collection as well as others written between 1973 and 2014 and provides an insight into the evolution of the poet over a period of four decades. This authentic selection translated by the poet himself carries some of his most well-known works such as 'Granny', 'Fever', 'Disquiet', 'Stammer', 'The Mad', 'Gandhi and Poetry', 'Self, 'A Man with a Door', 'Cactus', 'Translating Poetry', 'Snail' and 'Old Women'. The translations reflect the range of the poet's concerns as well as the variety of the forms and poetic devices employed by him. Many of these have appeared in anthologies like Two Plus Two (Mylbaris, Switzerland), Contemporary Indian Poetry (Bloodaxe, London), Indian Love Poems (Everyman, London), Language for a New Century (WW Norton, New York) and Oxford Book of Modern Indian Poetry (Oxford) besides several important journals.
