About the Author
Dr. Geetanjali Panda received her Ph.D in 2015 entitled Micro-Perspectives of Coastline Culture: A Study of Fishing Caste and Communities Living around Chilka Lake. She has wide experience in teaching and guiding students, graduate and post graduate students. Presently, she is working as lecture in BJB (Autonomous) College, Bhubaneswar. Apart from her teaching experience, she has published number of research papers in State, National and International Journals. Her first book Banjara Tribe of Kalahandi: Culture, Rituals and Religion is based on the field work done among Banjara tribe. Besides her research works, she teaches on Biological Anthropology, Fundamentals of Human Origin and Evolution, Human Growth and Forensic Anthropology.

This is a valuable text book which aims to serve all the students of Anthropology. This book has been written in a compact, coherent, and systematic manner in a simple language keeping in view the course under CBCS pattern to meet all kinds of necessities of students (Honours and Elective) in Anthropology. This book helps students for better understanding about Physical Anthropology in a systematic and scientific manner.

This book contains five chapters. In the first chapter, description about physical/biological anthropology has been discussed in details. In the second chapter, classification, distribution and characteristics of animal kingdom specifically living primates, apes, man's place in animal kingdom, comparative study of human and non-human primates are discussed in a scientific way keeping in view of better understanding in physical anthropology. In the third chapter, discussions on earliest Primates before hominids and their distribution, features and phylogenetic relationship are presented on the basis of their evolution to draw a clear picture on evolutionary process. The Process of Hominization, arrival of the hominids with models of human Origins and various ancestors of homo are discussed in fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter, origin of Home Sapiens Sapiens along with their distribution and features are presented in a systematic way for clear Linder standing about human evolution.
