European, American, Swahili and Arab merchants sought the brokerage services of the \u003cspan class=\"SpellE\"\u003eKachchhis\u003c\/span\u003e for the disposal of their cargoes. In brief, they had developed the web of service providers and connected the markets of Muscat and Zanzibar to the thriving emporiums of Bombay and \u003cspan class=\"SpellE\"\u003eMandvi\u003c\/span\u003e. \u003cspan class=\"SpellE\"\u003eKachchhi\u003c\/span\u003e firms combined many of these activities in order to spread risk and for diversification.
