Book Description

The author describes in detail the legends, the Folklore, history and artistic development of the land.
Kavalam Narayana Panikkar (b. 28 April, 1928) belongs to a village named Kavalam in Alleppey district. He started writing poetry hen very young and his poetry is specially noted for its rural idiom. He entered theatre in 1964 inspired by folk and classical traditions and has done considerable research in the folk and classical arts of Kerala.
Author of nineteen Malayalam plays, he has translated English and Sanskrit plays into Malayalam. His own plays, SAKSHI (1964), DAIVATHAR (1973), THIRUVAZ- HITHAN (1974), BHAGVADAJJUKAM(1976)(which is a Malayalam translation of the famous Sanskrit Prahasana), AVANAVANKATA¥PA (1975), OTTAYAN (1977), KARIMKUTTY (1982), KOYMA (1986), and TIRUMUDI (1988), have been successfully staged.
