Book Description

Preface

An organization's economic progress depends mainly on the quality of the various types of goods it produces and the quality of the various types of services it renders. What is said so far about an organization applies to a nation as well. It is nothing short of a crime to produce poor-quality products and offer poor-quality services and thus waste the scarce resources. Higher productivity can be certainly achieved through the adoption of the scientific principles of the philosophy of Quality and Reliability Engineering. It is no exaggeration if one claims that there is no sphere of human activity wherein, the philosophy cannot be applied without advantage. The only way to increase productivity is to do any job right the first time and of course, every time. By adopting such a strategy, the quantum of rework and scrap reduces to zero level.
The philosophy of Total Quality Management can be applied not only to products manufactured or services. offered but, it can be applied to an individual too. Every normal human being can think in a rational manner. As such, an individual can reach higher levels of life by adopting the principles of Total Quality Management to self. This means that an individual should cleanse oneself by discarding baser qualities, such as, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha, Moha and Matsarya. These ignoble qualities lead an individual to the cob-web of births and deaths. Any individual can reach the state of perfection or, the state of absorption or, the state of bliss through self discipline. An individual who has attained the state-of-bliss is referred to as a Sthithapragnya or a Yogi.
Management Science applied to self is also known as Inner Engineering. Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev is instrumental in creating such a concept.
A few articles of the Book pertain to Inner Engineering.
The Book contains 19 articles. Of these, some have appeared in Bhavan's Journal published by Bharatiyal Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. Some articles are the outcome of lectures delivered by the author at various educational institutions and other organisations during the past few years. The remaining articles are in the process of publication.
It is the sincere hope of the author that the articles contained in the Book are read and understood in their proper perspective. I express my sincere thanks to Professor C. Naganna, Director of Prasaranga, University of Mysore, for taking keen interest in publishing this work. I am also thankful to Sri. S. Ananda, Director of Printing Press of the University, for bringing it out so elegantly.
