It is the fifth ruler of Golkonda dynasty was the first Urdu poet who has left behind a Diwan a century before Wali Mohammad Wali considered to be the father of Urdu Poetry. This Diwan was unknown till 1922 when for the first time Maulvio Abdul Haq introduced it in his journal Urdu with a detailed Write-up. Later on in 1990 Dr M. Q. Zore edited this Diwan and published it. Qutb Shah's reputation as a great work did not contain a glossary and lacked in some other aspects also Dr Syeda Jafar re-edited it which was published by Taraqqi-e-Urdu Bureau in 1958.

About the Author :

The author of this monograph is a well known linguist and an outstanding scholar of Dakhmi Urdu. He has in this monograph re-evaluated the poetry of Quli Qutb Shah for the benefit of the Urdu readers.

About the Translator:

The translator is a D. Phil. In Medieval Indian History. She has translated extensively from Persian and Urdu into English, and from English into Urdu Dr Farooqi runs a private Social Service Schools in Allahabad and writes in her spare time.
