About the Author

J. P. Singh Deo (born 29th August 1946), is an individual field archaeologist, Khariar. He is credited with the discovery of pre historic rock shelter paintings of Yogimath Donger & Ghatghumar, Copper plates, gold coins of sarabhapuriya dynasty, clay & stone Seals of Panduvamsi dynasty, Kalachuri coins, terra-cottas, bedas, sculptures of many types and palm-leave manuscripts. With the presentation of his findings, "Khariar Branch Museum", was opened by Govt. of Orissa in 1976. His few archaeological findings are presented to "Dr. N. K. Sahu Museum", of Sambalpur University and Orissa State Museum. He is life Member of Institute of Historical Studies, Calcutta, Orissa History Congress, Red Cross Society and Utkal Sahitya Samaj. President of "Khariar Sahitya Samiti", which has already celebrated its Cultural Profile of South Kosala, "Origin of Jagannath Deity", "Tantric Art of Orissa". "Character Assasination in Modern History of Orissa", and has contributed to different research Journals, Bulletins, Periodicals, Magazines, Papers and edited Books. Reciver of "Ekamra Saman", 2002 and has been facilitated by many Organisations.

Introduction

Raja Sir Rajendra Narayan Bhanja Deo of Kanika. Orissa province, is black listed in history of modern Orissa, because of politics. Therefore the author had taken up the work to write, "CHARACTER ASSASINATION IN MODERN HISTORY OF ORISSA" so ably published by Sri R.N. Bhattacharya. He was member of the Bengal Legislative Council 1907-09, member of the Imperial Indian Council 1916-22, member of Bihar and Orissa Legislative Council 1923-33, Vice-President of the Governor's Executive Council and Finance Member in Bihar and Orissa 1929-33, a great protagonist of the Utkal Union Movement, closely associated with Madhusudan Das in organizing the Utkal Union Conference and presided over its Berhampur session in 1906. presented memorial before the Secretary of State in 1917 for ammalgamation of the Oriya speaking tracts, organised reception for the Simon Commission at Patna, member of the Attlee sub-committee which recommended the formation of a separate province for the Oriya-speaking people, played host to the O'Donnel Committee in 1931 and nominated member of Advisory Council of Orissa (1936-37).
