Shruti Laya : A Bunch of Research Papers

This book has made an attempt to include bunches of research papers written by eminent scholars from India and abroad. And also papers written by research scholars from South and North India. The book will be quite helpful to the upcoming scholars to refer short information about Indian Classical Music and its overall outlook.

Dr. K Sashi Kumar Ph.D Music Is working as an Associate Prof. in the Dept of Vocal, Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University.

He is also a Performing Artist. He has performed in several places both in India and Abroad. He has released many Compact Disc and Cassettes in his credit. He has also done various music directions in the field of Instrumental music, Devotional music and Bharatanatyam. He has published two books and has the credit of editing books also.

It is really a happy and proud moment for me as lam going to release a book named "shruti-laya" written by various national and international scholars as well as research scholars.

In this book an attempt has been made to include certain aspects of world music, Indian classical music both hindustani and karnatic.

In the English section- This work consists of various topics on treatises, practical aspects of karnatic music, composition aspects of Music, biography music of mauritius, folk art of Kerala, caste-musicians of Nepal, About Thai dancers, sinhala songs of Ceylon etc.

In the hindi section - The papers are on following topics like -historical references of veena, dance, music , drupad etc various stages of ragas. It also deals with abhinaya, accompanying tabla in light classical music, about gazals, keertanas, dance and its relationship with devotion, folk music, folk dance etc.

A gist of all the above topics are given in a precise manner by various authors. As this book consists of almost many varieties of topics, it would be helpful for the students to refer some aspects for their studies.
