About the Book In this book many concepts related to Astronomy, Mathematical Astrology, Predictive Astrology have been enshrined so that the students could gain authentic knowledge through its study and become a proper astrologer. Every student wishes to become a master in predictive astrology. In order to fulfill this desire of the students every concept has been described in detail.

By the study of this book the students will be able to cast horoscopes manually and calculate the ascendant, longitude Of planets, Vimshottari dasha etc. From the perspective of prediction the characteristics, nature, significations etc. of the planets, houses, signs and nakshatras have been explained.

Many concepts related to planets like their exaltation, dubitation sign, aspects of planets, relationships of planets, rise and combustion of planets have been described along with the yogas and various other important phenomena.

This book has been prepared and published by All India Federation of Astrologers' Societies taking into account the course curriculum prevailing in our institutions. Besides that this book will prove quite beneficial to those students also who are interested in learning Astronomy, Mathematical and Predictive Astrology.

Preface All India Federation of Astrologers' societies were founded on 9th May 2001.

The main motto of the Federation is to implement and run very high standard Astrological education of the level of university in India and abroad. Taking into account the need of the hour and the influence of computer in global level the syllabi of the different courses have been framed by the scholars.

The syllabus has been prepared after taking into account the interest of the students, their abilities and age. The scholars of astrological sciences pondered over these points and whatsoever they found appropriate unanimously were amalgamated into the syllabus.

Based on the syllabus of Jyotish Ratna and keeping in mind the interest of students, their abilities and age as well as the basis of country, time and individual the present book named 'A Text Book of Astrology' has been written. In this book, the different basic concepts of astrology like Astronomy, Mathematics, Predictive Astrology, and Transit have been enshrined along with the preliminary knowledge of Horoscope Matching so that the students after studying it could be able to learn Predictive Astrology as much as possible.

Nowadays due to the availability of the facilities of computers, the students don't require to study deeply the mathematics and astronomy etc. They need the first-hand knowledge only. That's why in the book only basic knowledge of mathematics and astronomy has been given. Every reader or student wants to do predictive astrology. Keeping this interest in mind, the predictive part has been described in detail. For more knowledge the students should pursue higher courses like Jyotish Bhushan, Jyotish Prabhakar and Jyotish Shashtracharya. After the completion of all these courses the students will become highly knowledgeable and adept in astrology. After this only regular practice is required.
