About the Author
Dr. Lavkush Mishra is Director of Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra. He has wide experience of travelling as well as academics He has represented his research papers in various countries including Thailand. China and Mauritius etc. He graduated from Allahabad University in 1994. He did Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) from A.PS. University, Rewa (MP) in 1996. Dr Mishra completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof Radha Kant Verma, former Vice Chancellor A.PS: University and Chairman of Allahabad Museum. He has authored several books including Cultural Tourism in India and Religious Tourism in India. Dr Mishra has number of papers published in different national and international journals to his credit. He also passed NET exam in 1998 organised hy University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi Dr Mishra is NCC (Naval Wing) C Certificate holder issued by Ministry of Defence. Government of India. He is associated with number of social-cultural organisations He is member of Organizing Committee of Taj Mahotasava, world fame fair of art, craft and cuisines. Dr Mishra is founder General Secretary of Paryatan Bharati-a leading organisation promoting tourism on national level. He is also Joint Secretary of Indian Tourism Congress (ITC) - an apex body of tourism educationists.

Glorious past makes people enthusiastic for the future. It is the historical background, which paves the way for the future when guided by present. The behaviour or attitude of people of any country much depends up on the historical factors and present leadership. The people of any country may realise and get inspiration by their glorious past that makes them more confident and committed for the better future.

India was invaded many times, though the invaders from Greek, Egypt, Rome etc. all came to India but British were different from these as they tried to make Indian inferior, so they can obey them. For this reason British tried to make their every effort. They distorted historical facts of India's glorious pasts.

There are total 27 World Heritage Sites in India. Out of these 22 are the historical sites and 5 are natural sites. UNESCO has declared 878 world heritage sites in the world till 28 February 2009 among which 679 are cultural 174 are natural and 25 are considered to be mixes category.
