The Maharaja Sayajirao Memorial Lectures for the year 1979-80 were delivered by Dr. H. N. Sethna, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India, Bombay on 12th and 13th of March, 1480.

Dr. Sethna is the receipient of many awards from India as well as abroad. He is the Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Atomic Energy. He was the Chairman, Indian Rare Earths Limited; the first President of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences; Director, Andhra Valley Power Supply Company Limited: President, Indian Science Congress Association for 1976 and Dy.
