Lucknow: Ode To A City

Thus, my joy knew no bounds when Dr PC Sarkar requested me to provide the Foreword for his latest book: Lucknow - Ode to a City. It gave me another chance to re-establish the link with a city, which my illustrious ancestor, King Wajid Ali Shah had tearfully left 165 years ago.

Interestingly, this book has not been written by a historian, which adds a twist to the whole approach. On the contrary, it has been penned by an accomplished chemical scientist who is passionate about history and Lucknow. The biggest proof of his passion is that he wrote this book, sitting in Kolkata, about a thousand km away from Lucknow. Being a man of science, his approach is methodical, logical, rational and straightforward. His deep knowledge and insight into historical facts add enough value to this book and makes it an ideal Collector's Collection.
