About the Book

Every civilization gets the universe it deserves. It means that, the universe, actually changes, when our ideas about it change; because we learn more about universe, the questions we ponder and the role we assign to the structure of heavens change. Every one start with some basic facts, i.e., the Sun rises in the East and sets in the West; Stars remain fixed, in relation to each other, the planets move. How the universe is to be understood with the help of these facts, depends upon the wealth of information we get and willing to accept theoretical advancement as a valid explanation, to what we see and understood. If this is a simple lesson, that grows out of the progress, the human race has made it in its successive conceptions of the universe is, the more we learn the less central our own planet and the human race to be, we do understand that events in cosmos do not happen at random but that every event is governed by one of small numbers of 'Natural Laws. The contemplation of such incomprehensible universe, is one. of the most enduring adventures of the human being and this has resulted in the growth of astronomy and Cosmology, which, in turn, helped the development of other sciences, including Mathematics and Astrology.

It is true that, in the early stages of development of human civilization, Astronomy was a battlefield of fierce fighting between 'Enlightenment and Ignorance'. Astronomy and Cosmology present innumerable fascinating aspects in their impact of human knowledge and their interactions with different areas of culture and civilization. At the same, human race continued its exciting quest for unfolding secrets of Nature; which definitely sends the message that "A man is not the measure of everything", because the whole of human history is no more than the small 'Tick' of the Cosmic clock. Modern sciences can tell us more about universe than any civilization ever known before and if mankind has to make wiser use of this knowledge, it must treat to learn science as an integral and valuable part of our culture and simply as an agent of material progress, because it is a universal truth that the most influential ideas are not necessarily the most practical one.

Astronomy teaches us to understand the complicated universe and its cosmic forces. It explains human behaviour in terms of cosmic forces while Astrology explains, human behaviour in terms of cosmic energy. It establishes eternal relationship between cosmos, human species and their behaviour. This interior relationship is influenced and regulated through planetary movements, which forms a part of the solar system since time immemorial species are evolved and try to function endlessly. How and why human beings behave is an unsolved question on scientific lines. Honest efforts are made to peep into this "Unknown Reality" to search for an answer. Whatever visible to human sight is not separated from this cosmic phenomenon and therefore, it is essential to search their internal relationship to shape, regulate and guide human behaviour for maintaining harmony and balance outside and within.

The historical analysis of the development of 'Astrological Thought' clearly indicates that it was dominated by Political, Religious and Mystic forces or Magical practices. In the initial stages of the development, religious forces dominated this system, because of the lack of astronomical development and advancement in astronomical observations and in addition, might be due to fear for life. At the dawn of any civilization lack of awareness of Natural calamities and dominance of Religious heads are common problems to face. As advancement takes in the field of knowledge, this fear is getting transformed into curiosity.

Astrological as well as Astronomical knowledge, with the help of observations, was used for agricultural purposes which was a basic and predominant force in a way of life, in a society, as it was a main source of livelihood, and all social and cultural activities are interconnected with this essential aspect of the existence of human life. Simultaneously people in general had unchallenged faith in power of planets, which can give rewards for good deal and punishment for bad one or anti-God and anti-religious behaviour. Planets and for that purpose, it was presumed, that they influence Earth as it is a Centre of Universe (Geo-centric Theory) but in the early stages of development of science, people were not aware why these planets do not fall, because they presumed that those are houses of Gods but slowly they started knowing that these planets affect human life as well as nature also and this was the beginning of the evolution of 'Zodiac' system, to explain and co-relate these relations between Cosmos, earth and Species, because Zodiac represents 'Time and Space' notions, It is divided into twelve parts of 30° each and presumed that it is a reflection of "above" on the Earth and Signs and planets are allotted in houses according to their degrees of movements in the solar system, but this subdivision and placement of planets and signs are purely 'Notional."
