From the Publisher

Dictionary is a source of knowledge to know and understand another language. Dictionaries are compiled and published in most of the languages in all countries of the world.

English has achieved status of the most prominent language of the world, and most of the bilingual dictionaries are brought out in English.

Urdu is a prominent language in India and Pakistan. Many English-Urdu dictionaries are available in the market, but this dictionary has certain peculiarities. It consists of over 15,000 English words translated in to Urdu, and same number of Urdu words in to English. For convenience of those not familiar with Urdu script, all Urdu words have been transliterated in to Roman script.

One more peculiarity of this dictionary is that it consists of only one- word meaning to each word. More comprehensive dictionaries are available, but for learners, students and travellers who look for meanings for a very quick reference, this will prove to be extremely useful and handy.

This dictionary has been compiled by S.A. Rahman (Syed Amanur Rahman), a post graduate from Delhi University, who has been involved in book publishing for several years, and holds diploma in Advanced Studies in Publishing, from Oxford Brooks University in U.K. He had been associated with National Book Trust, India (a unit of Ministry of HRD, Government of India) as editor and coordinator in their literary and promotional projects. He has also authored a number of books in different subjects, including children's literature (under his pen name Anwar Kamal Hussaini).

Every possible care has been taken in compilation and publications of this dictionary with utmost accuracy, yet any minor errors in this regard may kindly be ignored.
