Book Description

Experts from Review:

' Mr. Verma takes the reader back to the roots of the Indian culture, to the ideals and aspirations that energize it I highly recommend in his or her own societal context or in learning more about the moral values that lie at the heart of the Indian culture.'

RUTH H. AXELROD, GEORGE Washington University, USA.

'The Avatar Way of Leadership is a stroke of genius The book is a joy to read and to recommend.'

Dr. KLAUS K. KLOSTERMAIER, Fellow of the
Royal Society of Canada

' the most valuable achievement of this book is to vindicate the oft overlooked qualities and values that the great, and successful, leaders of our epics seem to share - humility, strength of conviction, steadfast pursuit of moral goals, concern for the greater good of society, and occasional flexibility tempered by steely firmness.'

DR. ASHIS GUPTA, HASKAYNE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS,
The University of Calgary, Canada

From the Back of the Book:

The Avatar Way of Leadership builds an Indian model of leadership by using insights on Jungian psychology, tales of the Avatars of Hindu Mythology and real examples of contemporary Indian leaders. It offers a unique perspective of leadership as a process comprising three successive stages: developing character, building relationships, and devising good strategies. Character attracts people. Relationships turn attraction into loyalty. Good strategies lead to victory and help sustain attraction and loyalty.

Three Avatars have been chosen for this model: Rama, Krishna and Draupadi, representing different leadership archetypes. Each archetype of leadership is explained with references to Indian leaders like president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Dhirubhai Ambani, Narayan Murthy, Azim Premji, among others, who have shown the same kind of leadership pattern in their life. Find out who represents which Avatar and you will know how to be the same kind of leader yourself.

Harsh Verma has lectured on Indian philosophy and leadership at international conferences and universities across the US. He is currently a consultant with Indian institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. Read his blog http://indianheroes.blogspot.com and email him at verma.harsh@gmail.com.
