Book Description

Preface

Happiness is a good object for academic discussion but very difficult or rather impossible to achieve in desired measure. Happiness for a couple means happiness individually and jointly of the partners. We have therefore to study the partners individually and in relation to each other.

For individual happiness we have to study the person as he or she is and his/her mental make up because, after all, happiness is only an attitude of mind.

For mutual happiness for the partner we have to judge them from various angles. This is particularly so when each of them has expectations from the other. There should be an element of adjustment, tolerance and appreciation of each other's habits, likes and dislikes and social and individual priorities. There are some typical things like extra marital sex, large sized ego and mistrust etc. In such case there is need for gentle persuasion and affectionate arguments.

Then, in the last, there are many general factors. In India for instance, childlessness is a curse and in the male dominated society the female partner is often the accused.

It may not be possible even to list the various factors contributing to happiness, much less to suggest remedies for making the couple happy.

The subject has been discussed from as many points of view as possible but no claim is laid on the comprehensive treatment of the subject except an attempt to study the problem and make a search for its solution.

The discussion has been developed systematically and progressively. To start with marriage as viewed by astrology has been discussed. Concept of marriage and marriage partners has been explained astrologically. The chapters on judgment of charts, marital affairs and the zodiacal signs and marital affairs and the planets follow. In chapter 5 some prevalent misconceptions and wrong notions about the signification of planets and houses have been brought out and discussed.

After discussing the preliminaries there is a chapter on planning for marriage, which brings out briefly the duties of the astrologer and how he should proceed in the matter. The chapters that follow are devoted to the judgment of longevity of partners, Is Marriage promised? Marriage, When, mutual compatibility. Hazards of married life. Progeny and comforts from the progeny.

In the chapter Happy Married life miscellaneous subjects like mental attitude, mental affinity, personal satisfaction and sex life of partners etc have been taken up.

Chapter 15 deals with some thumb rules for eternal happiness. The book ends with a chapter on Remedial Measures and Author's comments.

I would crave the indulgence of my valued readers for any short comings in my attempt. I hope, all the same, that the book, shall provide them with adequate light on the intrinsic influence of stars on married life.
