Book Description
The Culture and Heritage of Kashmir have been responsible for making it 'Rishi Bhumi" 'Reshi Wair", or land of Sants, Sages, Seers etc. All of these saints preached and practised message of Universal Brotherhood of man.
Upto the 14th Century, Hinduism was the chief religion of Kashmir. Bulbul Shah and about 300 Saiyads came to Kashmir where they preached tenets of Islam. Later Muslim Saint named Nund Rishi preached Sufism in his 'Shruks'. This resulted in the birth of a composite culture which has persisted till now. As a result Hindus and Muslims of Kashmir have survived the onslaughts of Zulj, Mehrakula, and Dulch. The credit for survival goes to the glorious Cultural Heritage.
Prof Kalla is U.G.C., Research Scholar and also member of Kashmir Council of Research.
