Book Description

About the Book
My Father is a Memoir by Dr. Manu Baligar, an eminent writer in Kannada, that brings to life a whole era, its ambience, and Weltailschauung. It is anecdotal and makes sudden transits as the memory prompts, and this is one of its strengths-there is a continuity of sincerity and authenticity. Each picture is painted with love and memories that are nourished by the pulsating blood from the heart. The book is a biography, history, revolution, nation-building, education, emancipation of women and the oppressed-the list is as intense, varied, resilient and lovable as humanity itself. One reads this book with a longing for more, and that it had been many times longer. The translator has done an excellent job in capturing in English the nuances and niceties of South Indian life. It has been a challenging task which Dr. Donur does with aplomb, accuracy, and appropriateness. M E Veda Sharan The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad
