ranspersonal psychology is coming of age. It is bursting out every Trap Neal books, magazines, articles, and workshops are appear ing daily that reflect the emerging transpersonal worldview, and it is spreading rapidly to other fields, ranging from anthropology to ecol ogy. It is an increasing force that is touching all areas of culture, thought, and society. Although transpersonal psychology and the perspective that emerges from it has implications for many fields of endeavor, it began with psychotherapy, and it is here that it has had greatest impact. It has spawned new approaches to healing and growth, and shed new light on many clinical issues. But while the transpersonal literature is growing rapidly, most contributions focus upon a specific viewpoint. The time finally seems right for a volume which concisely puts together the major developments in transpersonal psychotherapy as they are rele vant to both theory and clinical practice.

That is what this volume attempts to do. Part 1 provides an overview of the theoretical framework of transpersonal psychotherapy. Part 2 takes a look at the main transpersonal approaches to psychother apy as they have been developed so far. Part 3 examines some of the key clinical issues in the field as well as some of the clinical and ethical dilemmas that present themselves in this new endeavor. Part 4 attempts to synthesize some of the overarching principles of transpersonal psy chotherapy as they apply to actual clinical work.
