Book Description

About the Book

Although the innate urge to know God Is present in everyone, few people know how to actually experience the reality of God. Every soul, as an individualized unit of pure consciousness, is living in God now. This truth (fact) only has to be acknowledged and realized.

When we know God as God is, our awareness is no longer ordinary (fragmented and blurred by mental and emotional confusion and subconscious influences); it is illumined (clarified).

Satisfying Our Innate Desire

Explores:

  • Why We Want to Know God

  • How to Know What to Believe

  • How to Know God

  • Answers to questions about the spiritual path and guidelines to God-conscious living which supplement each chapter.

    About the Book

Roy Eugene Davis has taught these spiritual growth methods for more than 50 years—in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Europe, Brazil, West Africa, and India. Some of his books are published in eleven languages and ten countries. Mr. Davis is a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda.

    Foreword

Every man, woman, and child should be informed that an enlivening Power is nourishing our universe and they can learn to cooperate with it. When they do, their lives will be enhanced, their worthy endeavors will be successful, and they will experience rapid, progressive spiritual growth that will ultimately, in the course of time, completely satisfy the desire of their heart.

During my early teenage years, in a rural area of northern Ohio, I began to earnestly inquire about the reality of God. Although I had always been aware of a "benevolent Presence" that I could not then accurately define, I knew it was in and around me, as it was in and around everyone and everything. I read the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson and several books on religion, psychology, and yoga, and prayed fervently for a more vivid awareness of the presence of God.

In early spring of 1949, I avidly read Paramahansa Yogananda’s book Autobiography of a Yogi, and in late December traveled to Los Angeles, California, to meet him, and under his guidance began a four-year period of intensive spiritual practice.

Since then, I have never wavered in my resolve to know God. I can affirm, from personal experience, that fervent aspiration, dedicated resolve, persistent right endeavors, and God’s grace will enable a sincere truth seeker to experience spiritual growth that will culminate in Self- discovery and God-realization.

What I have learned is described in the following pages in the hope that this information will be of value to the reader who aspires to know God.
