Dr. R. E. S. Tanner (The Foot Print, Padworth Common, RG7 4QG, UK) has done extensive studies in Europe, Africa and Asia on the social and cultural dimensions of religions and religious worship. He was the first lay lecturer in comparative religion at Heythrop College, London. He has served as the chairman of the East African Institute of Social Research in Kampala.
