Book Description
This indeed is a precious little book, as it contains Nataraja Guru's renderings of Narayana Guru's primary works into fine English. Long out of print, some students of Narayana Guru's philosophy have requested it be reprinted. It will be especially useful for spiritual seekers and students of Vedanta, as Narayana Guru's works form scientifically guided meditations meant to draw the seekers attention into union with the ultimate non-dual Reality, often called Atman or Brahman.
Over forty years ago Guru Nitya Chaitanya Yati and Vinaya Chaitanya collected together these translations into the first edition of this anthology. New material from the hand of Nataraja Guru has been added to this second edition. Absent in the original, his rendering of the Atmopadesa Satakam has been newly added. Actually, Nataraja Guru had made alternate translations of several verses of some of the works contained in this book. Mr. Ian Matthew Jaco and myself compared these alternate translations and chose what we deemed to be the most accurate and beautiful, thereby replacing some of the verses from the original edition. This was the case with the Atmopadesa Satakam, the Darsana Mala and the Advaita Dipika, the last of which has been entirely replaced by its second version as located in the original manuscript of Nataraja Guru's An Integrated Science of the Absolute. It should be noted that the Kali-Natakam (Dance-Drama of the Eternal Feminine), as it is found in this book, is an incomplete rendering, this being all Nataraja Guru had finished on his hospital bed. We also rearranged the works in a more logical manner. We thank Mr. Ian Matthew Jaco of America for his help in these matters, as well as locating errors and getting the book in ready form to print. We thank Mr. Scott Teitsworth of America for prompting this book to be printed and painstakingly proofreading the original text. And we thank Mrs. Omana Murali for carefully typing out and formatting the entire book afresh.
May this little book of Narayana Guru's major philosophical works be a boon and sure guide for those seeking the eternal bliss of the Absolute.
