A Blessed Life (Biography of Pravrajika Bharatiprana)

Foreword We are happy to publish A Blessed Life' which is a detailed biography of Pravrajika Bharatiprana Mataji, the First President of Sri Sarada Math. The material for this publication has been collected from the Bengali and English books on her and from the personal reminiscences of senior sannyasinis of the Order.

Introduction At Cossipore, before his Mahasamadhi, Sri Ramakrishna one day asked Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi in a one of supplication, 'Won't you do anything? Shall this (1) do everything? Sarada Devi asked in wonder, 'What can I do being a woman?' But Sri Ramakrishna predicted, 'What has this done? You have to do much more.' For the next thirty-four years Sri Sarada Devi fulfilled the mission entrusted to her by Sri Ramakrishna of protecting and nurturing the fledgling Sangha (Order) of the monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna and giving succour to whosoever came to her.
