The Book Includes Proofs, Not Presented So Far, Of The Propositions Stated In The Well-Known Treatise Vedic Mathematics By Sri Bharati Krishna Teertha. It Also Introduces To The Modern Reader The Work Of Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Bhaskara And Madhava.
T.S. Bhanu Murthy received his Master's Degree from Mysore University and his Ph. D. from Moscow University. While at Moscow, he worked under the guidance of I.M. Gelfand. Following a brief stay at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay, he proceeded to Princeton, N.J. to work in association with Prof. Harish Chandra. He spent two years at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton (1964-66) and one year at Princeton University (1966-67).
After he returned to India, he took up appointment at the Ramanujam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, University of Madras, Chennai. He held the post of Director, Ramanujam Institute from 1969-1986. His areas of specialization include Harmonic Analysis on Lie Groups, Automorphic Functions and Number Theory. Languages and Classical Music are among his interests and he reads several Indian and Foreign languages. His knowledge of Sanskrit enabled him to research into the traditional sources of Indian Mathematics.
