Introduction

Ages ago there used to be a cowherd in the village of Gokul who had the divine power of mesmerizing everyone near and dear to him with his divine charms. Yes, he was Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The name 'Krishna' connotes the one who grants the wishes and desires of the devotees. He is the one who is bestowed with all the seven attributes in their full glory namely fortune, virility, fame, prosperity, knowledge, asceticism and the one who believes in the rewards of hard work. Owing to these attributes, he was worshipped as a divine form even though he had a physical appearance of any other mortal human being. In fact, he has always been revered and remembered more as a divine incarnation than just a mere mortal possessing Super natural prowess.

The personification of romance coupled with an unmatched wisdom, he could cast a spell with his flute tunes. Whether be his story of birth, the slaying of mighty demons, the way he enchanted the Gopis (cowherdesses) and his eternal romance with Radha, every stage of his life is filled with thrills and is a treat to the devotees. In the coming chapters you will feel the warmth of the aura that is emanated by this great mythological legend, Shri Krishna. The blue skinned God whose legend remains fresh in the hearts and minds of every devotee has now once again been brought to life in porcelain by the master sculptors of Lladro. A porcelain masterpiece that celebrates the beauty and romance of this divine incarnation in the most apt manner possible, this is our celebration of the "Spirit of India".
