Book Description

About the Authors
R.K. Narayan's career as a novelist spans almost eight decades from Swami and Friends (1935) to Grandmother's Tale (1992) until his death on 13th May 2001 at the ripe of 95. His distinctive sense of humour, his rootedness in religion and family values and his inescapable capturing of the essence of Indian sensibility and his perception and recognition of the women in the Indian society-has been looked at from a refreshingly new perspective.

Nisha Singh has received her doctoral degree for her work on R.K. Narayan from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. She has presented numerous papers on Narayan in National and International Seminars. She has published papers in esteemed Journals. Currently she is teaching English Literature in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi.
