Education made women more independent and they excel in various walk of life. Women participation in social, economic and political aspects of life have transformed and enriched the culture too. And hence the nation's progress has been ensured by the role of women in society, they play different role for sustainable development of the society. Women also transform the community by contribution in nation economy by participating in rural and urban workforce. Therefore, the educational institutions should pay importance of women's education which in turn enriches the culture and brings progress and achievement in diverse areas.

This book reviews the status of women's education which transforms the development of society and also the idea of woman being dependent and confined to the four boundaries of the walls is now changing with the influence of education, technology and connectivity for the blooming of women entrepreneurs with the light of FDI (Foreign Direct Investments). It also aimed to reveal the impact of microfinance on the socio economic development of rural tribal women and role of SHG's. The status of women in the society and in higher education was in concern in modern society.

In this context, this book is a compilation of various research and thematic papers contributed by academicians and research scholars published in the title of "Women and Culture." Most of the papers are related to Women's Entrepreneurship, Women and Culture, Women and Literacy, and Socio Economic Development of Rural Tribal Women and more.

About the Authors
Dr. Ramesh. M presently is working as an Assistant Professor of Education at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. He did M.Sc. (Botany), M.Ed., UGC-NET, and Ph.D. (Education) from the Centre of Advanced Study in Education [CASE]. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. He worked as UGC Post-Doctoral Fellow at Pondicherry University. He is having more than six years of experience in Research and teaching Science Education, Teacher Education, Inclusive Education and Environmental Education. He has published 21 research articles in National and International journals, 7 chapters in edited books, and 44 papers presented in National and International seminars/conferences. He served as a resource person for the seminars, workshops, and module development. He completed 02 research projects funded by ICSSR and PMMMNMTT, Central University of Kerala and one is ongoing funded by NCERT.

Dr. Maria Josephine Arokia Marie S. presently is working as Assistant Professor of Education at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. She did M.Sc. (Chemistry), M.Phil. (Chemistry), M.Ed., Ph.D. (Education), UGC-NET, and SRF, and has more than six years of experience in Research and teaching Science Education, Teacher Education, Educational Technology, Blended Learning, and Educational Psychology. To her credit, she has published many research articles in National and International reputed journals, Scopus indexed and UGC Care listed journals. She contributed her research papers as chapters in many books. She has organized 2 National seminars and completed ICSSR-IMPRESS Major project and one project from RajyaSiksha Kendra, Bhopal. She is a member of various Academic bodies and a reviewer for research journals. Her aspirant tentacles try to reach even far-flung areas to promote education and developmental activities to scale new peaks in social development.

Prof. M.T.V. NAGARAJU is currently working as Dean, Faculty of Education, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak (MP), India.He has published 33 books, 38 research publications in National and International journals apart that he has presented papers in 10 International and 50 National Seminars/Conferences. Under his research supervision 17 M.Phil, and 6 Ph.D. Degrees in Education were awarded and currently guiding 4 Ph.D. Scholars. He has completed 2 minor and 2 major projects and one is ongoing funded by NCERT. He is a Life Member of the Indian Association of Teacher Educators (IATE) and a Life Member of the Indian Association of Applied Psychologists (IAAP). He has delivered several extension lectures and enlightened the participants.

Foreword
The theme of 'Women and culture' is an enduring area of study and research amongst social scientists worldwide. The issues concerning gender beliefs, socialization, gender roles. in family & society, gender perception, gender & leadership have long been inspiring researchers in the field. Women in our society play an explicit role in the enhancement of self, family, community, nation, and worldwide. A family's culture is deeply influenced by the status of women in it. Similarly, it is the family culture that has a strong influence on our gender beliefs, perspectives, and gender roles. The role of women in the cultural setting of society seems to be ubiquitous across ethnicities, worldwide.

Preface
Women have a significant role to play in contributing towards the nation's development and therefore their education is of significant importance. An educated woman can educate and benefit her whole family with her knowledge and experiences and through her the whole nation can be empowered. They significant role have fundamentally changed in the areas of social, political, economic, cultural and religious life. They have surpassing skills and abilities which assist them to effectively convey their engagement in such areas. Aside from skills and abilities, it's critical for women to develop awareness about the issues that influence their participation in society. Women's position in society is primarily recognised in terms of how they contribute to the well-being of society. In some cases, their contributions to society's well-being are made through their employment when they work as teachers in schools or higher educational institutions; they are not only earning a living, but also contributing to society's well-being by imparting knowledge and raising awareness. Women education plays a major role in the transformation for the improved society.
