Philosophy is wisdom; education transmits that wisdom from one generation to other. Philosophy represents a system of thoughts; education embraces that thought in the content of instruction. Philosophy determines the various aspects of education. Remarkably education is the dynamic side of philosophy. It is the active aspect of philosophical belief, the practical means of realizing the ideals of life. In this volume an attempt is made to understand the philosophical foundations of education. Dr. Amrita Pandey, M.A. (Education), M.Ed. Ph.D. (Edn.) is a seasoned teacher and researcher of education. She has written many research papers and attended many national seminars and conferences. Her areas of interest are, educational psychology, guidance and counseling and educational technology etc. Currently she is associated with a renowned pedagogical institute in M.P.

Philosophy and education are the two sides of the same coin; the former is the contemplative while the latter is the active side.
