About the Author:

Dr. G.P. Tiwari, is a worthy disciple of his worthy guru Dr. D.G. Thatte. Born on November 10, 1974 at Barabanki, he graduated from Lucknow University to become a B.A.M.M.S. in the year 1971. He started his career as a teacher of Sharir in 1973. Presently, he is on the staff of Department of Sharir, Lalit Hari State Ayurvedic College, Pilibhit. He takes keep interest in writing and publishing research papers in various journals of Ayurveda.

Dr. Dinkar Govind Thatte was born on August 2, 1930 in a Maharastrian Brahmin family in Banda. Having obtained his B.M.B.S. degree with a Gold Medal from Lucknow University in 1957, he started his professional career as a House Officer in the same year at State Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Lucknow. Subsequently he rose to the posts of Resident Medical Officer in 1961, Demonstrator (Anatomy) in 1963, Lecturer in 1970, Reader in 1972, Professor in 1974 and Head of the Post-Graduate Department of Sharir in 1979.

During his rise from Lecturer to Professor, he has written three outstanding books on the subject of Sharir, namely Manav Sharir (Human Anatomy), Manav Bhrun Vigyan (Human Embryology) & Manav Auga Rekhankan & Sharir Vikiran Rachana (Surface and Radiological Anatomy). All the three books are in Hindi and are best-sellers. With these books he has been able to inspire his colleagues to write books. Apart from this, he has been guiding researchers in the field of Sharir. By now he has more than fifty published research papers to his credit. The various Universities and Academic Institutions of India invite him of and on to deliver lectures on topics on medical importance. He is a member of Academic Council, Lucknow University and a member of the Board of Studies, Institute of Medical Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.

He is also recognised as an authority on the subject on the subject of Sharir and is frequently invited as a Post-Graduate Examiner in Various universities of India.

He is also recipient of the following award:-
(1) Doctor Birbal Sahani Award 1975-76
(2) State Award 1974-75.
