A winner of the Padma Vibushan, his writings chart the changes that India experienced from mid-20th century through the first decade of the new millennium. This book charts the life and times of this fascinating multi-faceted personality and gives us a quick and insightful reading of his literary works.

About the Author

G.J.V. Prasad (b. 1955) is Professor of English at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India and former Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Study, JNU. He has co-edited with Sara Rai a collection of stories from Indian languages, lmaging the Other. His academic publications include Continuities in Indian English Poetry: Nation Language Form and Writing India, Writing English, along with five other edited volumes of critical essays. A poet and novelist G.J.V. Prasad has most notably received the Katha award for translation from Tamil.
