Geeti Sen was Art Critic for the Times of India (Bombay) from 1970-75 and then for India Today from 1976-77. for two years she was Associate Editor of MARG Publications and then for four years Editor of the QUARTERLY journal published from India International Centre. She has interviewed several artists on Doordarshan, including Shri S.H. Raza, and has completed a series of seven documentary films for Doordarshan.
Geeti Sen took her doctoral degree from the University of Calcutta. With earlier degrees in the History of Indian Art from Bryn Mawr College and the University of Chicago. Her major publications include a monograph on Paintings of the Akbar Nama, and now a book on five contemporary artists called The Mind's Eye, to be published in 1990.
After publishing five monographs in bigger format the Lalit Kala Akademi has decided to go back to the smaller size. This series dealing with contemporary Indian Artists is being undertaken by the Akademi with the intention of popularizing the work of India's leading artists.
In Conformity with the general policy of the Akademi these pocket books will be sold on a no profit no loss basis. Each publication will contain a short note introducing the artist and his work to the public at large.
