Book Description

About the Authors
Dr. V. Lakshmikantham is an internationally well-known mathematician. He is professor and head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Florida Tech and the president of the "International Federation of Nonlinear Analysts." He is responsible, as a researcher, for initiating, publicizing and popularizing several areas of Nonlinear Analysis as is evident by fifty research monographs and over five hundred published papers. He is Editor of five international journals and serves on many editorial boards of journals.

With all of his research activity and teaching obligations and administrative demands, he still finds the time to conduct research relative to "The Origin of Human Past" a monograph published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1999, which has been translated recently into Malayalam. The subject has been a major interest and passion to which he has devoted many years of research. Another book published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 2006 is "What India Should Know." The conclusions and views expressed in this book are not of the publishers. In fact, the authors have only recorded like a camera, from existing literature without expressing their opinions at all.

Dr. J. Vasundhara Devi is a research professor in V. Lakshmikantham Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) in Visakhapatnam, India. She has to her credit five research monographs and over sixty research publications in the general area of nonlinear analysis. Moreover, she has interest and passion in the history of India and many cultural aspects of Bharatiya civilization.

Dr. S. Leela is an internationally well-known mathematician and she is the author of over 100 research papers and eight research monographs, in the general area of nonlinear analysis. She has visited several countries giving invited lectures. She is now Professor Emeritus from SUNY, New York and she holds the title of Distinguished Professor. In addition to mathematics, her interest is in the cultural history of India and India's contribution to the world of mathematics.

Preface
If a nation does not face its true history, it has no future and its present remains confused. The lack of national spirit and historical consciousness keeps people alienated from their roots, and therefore cannot connect with the traditional ancient literature and cannot find national pride in their own history.

History is like the pulse of a nation. As long as the pulse beats, the person is alive and likewise, so long as any country continues to search for its true history, it cannot die. Any nation content with its falsified history and does not have the courage to renounce the concocted history, is as good as dead. Such is the state. Of India today.

Any historian should not start with a predetermined theory or hypothesis and begin to interpret the events of the past to suit the assumed theory by interpolating and amending the texts of historical records to proclaim the conjectured version of the theory as the true history. Such a procedure is certainly unworthy of historians. Unfortunately, this is precisely what happened to the ancient Indian history. Let us examine this aspect closely.
