Autumn Raga

Attempting to put the unsavory experiences of her life behind her, Sunaina returns to the Doon valley. But the once idyllic valley is now a bustling metropolis, its old world charm eroded by the harsh realities of modern day life. Drawing upon the constancy of her childhood friend Tanuja, she begins her journey inwards, following the light and shade of the many hued classical music ragas.

Delicately and sensitively, Jaskiran Chopra guides her protagonist in her search for inner strength as she accepts both the beauty and the pain of her past and one day at a time, begins to build a future, symbolized by her daughter, Roop. Ultimately, Autumn Raga is not only a wistful sign for the past, with its warm and comfortable shadows, but a powerful argument for the hope of a tomorrow.

Jaskiran Chopra, born in Nangal in Harayana, has her schooling at Convent of Jesus and Mary, Dehra Dun, her undergraduate degree in English Honours from St. Stephen’s college, Delhi and post graduation in English Literature from Garhwal University. She has also completed a course in journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi

A journalist by profession, she has worked with United News of India in Delhi and Dehra Dun and The Times of India in Dehra Dun. She is currently working with The Pioneer as a Special Correspondent and is based in Dehra Dun.

She has spent most of her life in Dehra Dun, a city she loves beyond measure and would not trade for any other in the world.
