About the Book Colours Caught in Mist is the English translation of Govind Mishra's Hindi novel Kobre Mein Quand Rang, a work of considerable maturity and craft. It is a novel written about the days past while it is being discussed in the present. It is thus a novel within a novel. In yet another innovation, fiction slips into life and vice versa. Two periods of time are juxtaposed on each other. The space of Saraswati, the innocent and dependent type of traditional woman, is taken over by the modern, confident and independent type Reva, who also critically analyses the novel so far written. Filled with memorable as well as breakout characters, this is one of the finest instances from contemporary Hindi fiction. This novel received the Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2008.
