Damodar Sastri of Puri, Orissa. Pt. Sastri was a versatile genious in the field of Sanskrit Learning. He was a luminous son of Orissa and a bright star in the firmament of Sanskrit studies. I am glad to know that a commemoration Committee was formed and decided to bring out the volume in his name. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e It is our tradition that the learned one should be respected and honoured. If we fail to do so, it will be a sin on our part. It is befitting to the occasion that such a great personality of Puri is being honoured even after his death in 1975. As he has written thirty-two original books in Sanskrit and Oriya, many are not yet known. Steps should be taken to bring those to the scholars of Indology. It is his significant contribution to the field of Sanskrit and particularly to Indian philosophy that he could write so many original books unfolding the shastric knots to his pupils. Such are the persons of high scholarship do take birth in India and Orissa is being proud of giving birth to an illustrious son like him. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e It is befitting on the occasion that, the family members of Sastriji have taken lot of pain in helping Dr. S.C.
