Volume three is concerned with the history religion and culture of Western India. Fourth volume describes the same for Eastern States of India. Fifth and Sixth Volumes are devoted to Central and North Eastern Regions.

About the Author
Prof Shiv Gajrani, PG with Doctrate in History, has taught History and Philosophy as head of department to PG students. He attended several national and international history conferences; is member of many History Societies and submitted project reports on culture, politics and nationlism.

Vol- 1
The north Indian region comprises the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and the union territories of Chandigarh and Delhi. The cultural heritage of this region is an ancient and dynamic entity, spanning back to the very beginnings of human origin. It was a region that hosted one of the earliest human civilizations known as the Indus valley civilization. World's renowed great religions like Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism are originated and flourished here.

Vol- 2
The southern portion of India is a large peninsula with a forbidding mountain range all along the western coast and a large flat plateau called the Deccan in the centre of the sub-continent. It includes some of the most developed states of India such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Lakshadweep and Pondicherry union territories are also belongs to this region.

Vol- 3
The north-east Indian region is situated between the two great traditions of the Indic Asia and the Mongoloid Asia. The region comprises the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. They form part of the East Himalayan region which extends from Sikkim. eastwards and embraces the Darjeeling Hills of West Bengal. The location of the region is strategically important as it has international borders with Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Myanmar and Tibet.

Vol- 4
The eastern India comprises the states of Bihar, Jharkhand Orissa and West Bengal. Each of the states that form this part of India has its own culture and tradition.

Bihar, the ancient land of Buddha has witnessed golden period of Indian history. It is the same land where the seeds of the first republic were sown and which cultivated the first crop of democracy. Such fertile is the soil that has given birth to innumerous intellectuals which spread the light of knowledge and wisdom not only in the country but in the whole world.

Vol- 5
The rich and fertile land of the central India was the meeting ground of different people and races. Its population descends from various stocks and consists of heterogeneous racial elements. The region comprises the states of Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Each state has its own distinct tradition of art, culture, dance, music and life styles. Because of its central location in India, the region has remained a crucible of historical currents from North, South, East and West.

Vol- 6
The west Indian region comprises the states of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and the union territories, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Dama and Diu. Each state has its own distinct tradition of art, culture, dance, music and life styles. Varied customs and traditions co-exist peacefully in this region. It has produced many thinkers, many rebels and yet as a rule the people of the region are law abiding, god-fearing and good.
