Preface
This report is the outcome of my field work in tribal villages namely Pedavalasa, Darakonda, Darlagondi and Kotthuru villages of Gudem Kothaveedhi Mandalam of Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh. The field work was undertaken in two phases under the individual research project "Impact of Induced Technological Changes on the Agrarian Situation in the Tribal Villages of Andhra Pradesh". The first phase of field work was done in the year 1985 for about four months and the second phase of the field work was done during June and July of the year 2004. The main objectives of the project are to bring into relief the adaptive strategies of induced technological development on: (1) the agrarian situation in tribal villages having settled cultivation predominantly and villages where coffee plantations have been introduced, (2) to study the impact on introduction of technology on the socio-economic development of the tribals and (3) to high light the corresponding changes in the attitudes, the values, beliefs and world view of the concerned people consequent upon induction of technological changes.
