An Introduction to Sanskrit Linguistics (Comparative and Historical)

The exhaustive work divided into Six sections deals with a thorough study of Sanskrit Linguistics. Part one called 'Introduction' comprising six sections proceeds to give a detailed account of the subject ranging from nature, importance, origin and development of the language to the outlines of the rich history of Indo-Aryan. Part two dealing with 'Phonetics' presents a comprehensive account of its various spheres from phonology, phoneme, allophone to its varied accents. Part three explores the various dimensions of 'Phonology' ranging from the source of Sanskrit vowels to that of their analogy Part four throws light on the morphological aspects of the Part five deals with semantics; and Part six delves into the interesting subject of Sanskrit and its comparative linguistics.

Born on 19th June, 1941, Dr. M. Srimannarayana Murti has specialised in the subject of "Sanskrit Linguistics". Besides this, he also holds a Senior Diploma in German.

He was awarded Lt. K. Balarami Reddy Memorial Medal the best thesis in Sanskrit in 1977.
