About the Author Pannalal Patel (1912-1989) is a stalwart of Gujarati Literature. Malela Jiv (Kanji and Jivi) is his second novel which he wrote in twenty-four days at the age of twenty-eight. His novels and stories are part of the syllabi in several universities in Gujarat. His other most famous novel is Manavini Bhavai. Pannalal Patel is a recipient of the prestigious Jnanpith Award.
