About the Author Abdulla Molla, Guest Lecturer of Arabic, Dept. of Arabic, Persian, Urdu & Islamic Studies, Bhasha Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India, where he has been teaching since 2017. He works as Co-editor of an International Peer Reviewed Quarterly Journal, entitled "Global Vision.", in the Dept. of Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Islamic Studies, Visva-Bharati.

He also did Certificate in Arabic Language and Diploma in Functional Arabic from National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi. He has also qualified UGC-NET couple of times. He has one book to his credit related to history of Arabic literature entitled "A'lam Tarikh al-Adab al-Arabi."

Preface During the last few years of my teaching of Arabic 1 have often found that the teaching of Arabic language. particularly to non-Arabs, poses many challenges. This book provides an authoritative guide to Modern Standard Arabic grammar. It has been organized to promote a thorough understanding of Modern Standard Arabic grammar and presents its complexities in a cohesive and user-friendly format, filling many gaps left by other textbooks.

This book consists of topics essential to the mastery of Arabic as a foreign language at various levels, from beginning to Advanced. It offers an outline account of the most important and central grammatical constructions and categories in Arabic. I have assumed only minimal prior familiarity with the structure of Arabic; all the grammatical terminology used is systematically explained. The analysis draws on the descriptive and theoretical advances made in modern linguistics, and for this reason the book could be used for an elementary course on Arabic within a linguistics programme.

This book has been designed to serve dual purpose to help those students of Arabic courses who wish to speak Arabic thoroughly and to enable the self-learners for specific and temporal purpose of visiting an Arabic speaking area for short or long periods of work.
