Foreword
The People of Nepal fought the People's War in the leadership of CPN (Maoist) for ten years going by the principle of Marxism-Leninism- Maoism. It is a historical event for the nation towards the accomplishment of the revolution of socialism and communism. In this context, the book "Nepalese People's War: Biographical Accounts of Its Leaders", written by Yam Chaulagain and Rashmi Kandel, marks a great importance, I had written the words of best wishes on its first publication in Nepali language. Now the book is corning in English language and I feel glad for the privilege to write a few words again.

This book presents an honest picture of relentless struggling life of the central committee members and advisory committee leaders of CPN (Maoist) during People's War. It's an appreciable endeavor to bring out a book to revere the historical event and its leading warriors. The book has become a good source of knowledge and a comprehensible material about Nepali History.

The Nepali People's War that was proved possible in the late twentieth or the early twenty first century is not only a matter of interest in Nepal but all over the world for it came at a time when the environment for a communist revolution was thought not conducive. The basic features of the book I observed are:

First of all it is based on the life of the central committee members and advisory committee of CPN (Maoist) during people's war.

Secondly, the lives of the comrades are linked with the important, events of the history of People's War, so it has become a part of the history of communist movement in Nepal.

Thirdly, with the life sketches of the leaders, the people's movements, class struggles, and most important events of the people's war are attached to make it an important historical document of the communist movement of Nepal.

Fourthly, the focus of this book is on the people's war of Nepal. Therefore, the principles the leaders implemented in the warfare, their dedication, honesty, their dreams and their martyrdoms are inspirational to the readers. The book has documented the stories of great sacrifices of the brave martyr’s com. Suresh Wagle, com.

Rit Bahadur Khadka, com. Sherman Kunwar. Com. Mohanchandra Gautam and com. Kim Bahadur Thapa and the disappeared ones like com. Dandapani Neupane and com Tej Man Gharti.

Com. Prachanda is the supreme hero among the heroes of the people's war as well as its supreme commander. The authors present him as:

Prachanda can be regarded not only as the supreme commander of the important historical people's war of CPN Maoist but also be remembered as the rising sun of the world's communist revolution. People of Nepal have great expectation from him as he has been able to march ahead by shattering the age old painful curtains of depravity, ignorance, inequality and anarchy.

Remarks on the leadership of the party are very noble and meaningful. The book beautifully captures the expectations that the people all over the world have from Com. Prachanda.

The book is strong in terms of knowledge it stores but also in terms of its style and grace in presenting the ideas. The writers have presented the life sketches in an interesting, lively and artistic manner that makes readers spellbound. It is a political writing in the style of an artistic rendition. The names and titles are symbolic as well as metaphorical to express the essence of the life events of the leaders. The book has tried to capture larger part of the leaders' lives and essence of their living in a short biography. There is coherent flow of ideas and uniformity of style in the presentation of different biographies. It's good to take the book like a bunch of beautiful biographies of the heroes of the people's war.
