Book Description

Foreword
I am delighted to write this foreword for the book Psychosocial Wellbeing of Divorced Women: A Liberative Pastoral Care and Counselling Paradigm, not only because I have known and taught Zubeno Kithan for more than 6 years but also the contextual relevance of the book for the ministry and mission of the church in India. The issue is quite relevant in today's context as divorce is becoming increasingly a reality for many people. Psychosocial Wellbeing of Divorced Women takes very seriously the multifaceted nature of divorce experience. This book explores the centrality of theology and pastoral care and counselling as a way of understanding and responding to the profound human tragic experience. Having found the plight of divorced women through empirical research in the Naga context, the author expanded the traditional approaches to pastoral care and counselling to the broader approach to deal with the issue face by divorced women. The author takes us on an expedition that will undoubtedly change how many of us especially pastoral counsellors understand and respond to many issues including the issue of divorce.
