Book Description
The Ramayana was written by the poet Valimiki. Later the poet Tulsidas popularized it.
The Ramayana is about Lord Rama. He was from the ancient North Indian Kingdom of Kosala now in Uttar Pradesh
The Ramayana teaches moral lessons. Rama is the dutiful and obedient son and the ideal king, Sita the idea wife, Lakshmana the ideal brother and Hanuman the most loyal follower.
Rama was sent in human form to kill Ravana, the demon king. Ravana had received a boon from Brahma- that he could not be killed by any god or demon; but he could be killed by a human being. So Rama was sent as a human being to put an end to Ravana’s evil deeds. It was to be triumph of good over evil, light over darkness.
