Book Description

About The Book

In this little book, the author addresses questions such as, Am I called (to ministry)? How do I hear God’s voice? How do I know God’s will (for my life)? How do I know whether I am following God’s will? What is ministry? Written in simple language and in a concise manner, the book will help the readers grow in their walk with the Lord. A brief testimony from a senior Christian minister narrating his practical life experiences of hearing God’s voice and following His will, further enriches this book.

Preface

This little book is inspired by some of the questions that I am asked on a regular basis. Students ask me these questions even though I primarily teach Old Testament courses. I have encountered these questions both in academic (e.g., Bible College class) and non-academic (e.g., Bible study session) settings. Am I called to ministry? How do I hear God's voice? How do I know God's will for my life? How do I know whether I am indeed following God's will? These are genuine questions from God-loving Christians who want to follow God's will and to be led by Him in the steps of their lives. God impressed upon my heart to write this little book when I was locked down at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not an "academic" book but a simple guide to those who are also asking the questions posited above.

Introduction

Many Christians who love the Lord are confused. They want to serve the lord but are confused as to whether or not they are called to "ministry." They want to do God's will but wonder what that will might be. They want to obey God in the decisions of their life but are perplexed about how they can hear His voice guiding them. The "servants of the Lord" who stand behind the pulpit seem to know exactly what God wants from their life. They seem to hear God's voice all the time. They always say, "God spoke to me" or "The Holy Spirit told me." Parishioners wonder why it is that God speaks to "ministers" regularly and clearly guides them, but not so much the "ordinary believers." Maybe God favors them more because they are, after all, "His servants." Maybe they pray more. Maybe they read the Bible more. Maybe they live holier lives. Maybe they are extra spiritual. Maybe they have a secret that they do not share with us. Maybe this. Maybe that.
