Ayurveda aims in overall health of body, mind and soul. For attaining this health, and to treat the disease, the principles of chikitsa are based on two main aspects as Sanshodhan and Shamana. Panchakarma with its five modalities of treatment stands as chikitsa principles for almost all the diseases. Shamana chikitsa done after Shodhana gives better results.
Vamana Karma is the first among the panchakarma procedures which is mainly done in Kapha related disorders. The literature related to Vamana karma is found in many texts in various references .In this book a small effort is made to compile the material and place it accordingly.
