Book Description

Foreword

Vedas are reservoir of Knowledge pertaining to the physical and meta-physical dimer sions of Human life, nature and material existence in this world. Unfortunately, the modem world has not fully comprehended the profoundness of the Knowledge base contained in the Vedic literature.

Recent research on Vedic literature, by the scholars who have knowledge not only of Sanskrit and Vedic literature, but also of the modern subjects, such as. Physics, Chemistry Biology, Mathematics, Economics and Management, has been unraveling the depth and canvas of the Scientific knowledge contained in the Vedic literature.

The National Institute of Vedic Science (NIVS) has been set up, under the auspices of Sei Sripadaraja Mutt, Mulbagal, with the basic objectives, among others of fostering increased awareness about the fundamental scientific wisdom propounded in the Vedic literature.

NIVS owes a great deal to the blessings, inspiration and guidance provided by His Holi ness Sri Sri Vijananaidhi Tirtha, Pontiff of Sri Sripadaraja Mutt, Mulbagal .

The National Institutte of Vedic Science (NIVS) has drawn up a comprehensive programee of propagating knowledge about Vedic Science and demostrating its usefulness in the modem world. NIVS has been conducting short term courses on Vedic Science, organizing spe- cial lecture events in the schools and colleges, bringing out small books on Vedic Sci- ence, in addition to the activity of organizing national and local conferences and semi- nars on different thems of Vedic Science.

The present book on vedic mathematics is exclusively made for beginners attending the Veda Vasantha Camp-2009. Prof. Venkatesh Murthy, Dean, IACT has proved through this work to the learners that Mathematics is easy, they can arrive at the solution immedately.

The beginners will find this publication very useful to pursue Vedic Mathematics for advanced studies in the field. Let me wish the campers of Veda Vasantha-2009 all success in their efforts.

We appeal to all those who are interested in exploring the hitherto unknown space of Science contained in our ancient literature, to join hands with the NIVS and make their useful contributions to the task of making this unique Institution to grow and expand with a view of fulfilling its objectives in an effective manner.

We have proposed to prepare a Directory Of Scholars and Students of Ancient Indian Science, and we make an appeal to such scholars and students to send their full details to the Secretary, NIVS in Bangalore.

Let me once again present our Pranams at the feet of HH Swamiji seeking His blessings and benevolence in all the missions of NIVS.
