About the Author

Raakhee Mehra is the daughter of proud parents who has throughout first class academic career with lots of prizes in sports and cultural activities. She was born on September 27th 1969 at Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh). After the selection for her BAMS through Pre-medical Test (PMT) firstly she denied to get admission in but was motivated by Dr. Shanta Ram Gupta the then Head of the Department of Medicine, Govt. Medical College Raipur (Chattisgarh), she joined Ayurveda in 1986. In the very first year she got 13 prizes in cultural activities, 15 prizes in sports event alongwith first position in the merit of Pd. Ravishankar University, Raipur (Chattisgarh) and since then she has put forward with a great trust adopted in Ayurveda system of medicine in her life. She equally gained practical skills of allopathic system of medicine from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Civil Hospital, Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. She has obtained MD. Degree in Shalya-Shalakya from renowned Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda I. P. G. T & R. A., Gujarat Ayurveda University the very first university of Ayurveda in whole world in 1996 through All India entrance selection basis.

She honored to marry an officer of Indian Air Force in February 9th 1996. Soon after she also got herself registered for Ph. D. from IPGT & RA and awarded by Doctorate in Shalya Vigyan in the year of 2000. She joined Central Research Council for Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS) in the year of 1999, because of her keen interest in research in medical science. Her craving for more skills and authentic knowledge of the medicine is never ending process, she also acquired her Post Graduate Diploma in Medico Legal system (PGDMLS) from symbiosis Pune in 2002, and Post Graduate Diploma in Preventive and Promotive Health Care PGDPPHC from Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad in 2005. She is also registered for Post Graduate Certificate Course in Hospital Management from National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi for 2005-06.

She is a proud mother of a daughter and a son. Presently is serving at Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare working after and CGHS, Ayurvedia Hospital for liasoning, coordination and up gradation. She is the first lady Ayurveda officer who looked after Ayurveda system of medicine in Andaman & Nicobar Islands for three years (1999 to 2002). She is also the first lady Ayurveda officer from the Government of India who has initiated Ayurveda system of medicine in the Armed Forces of India while being on deputation. She served in the Armed Forces for twenty- two months (January 2004 to November 2005). Due to having skills, knowledge, attitude and versatile personality, she also represented Government of India for Ayurved in India show organized by Word Trade organization at Prague, Czech Republic in 2005.

Publication- More than 81 papers, four books in hand, independent chapters in Council's text for Shalya, regular writer in various Ayurveda magazines, editiorial member of "Spandan" an official magazine of District Administration of Nicobar Islands and regular cohemnist of Ayurved Mahasammelan Patrika, reflects the authors keen interest in writing with special reference to the promotion of Ayurveda. She had also performed well as Editorial Assistant in "Smarika" a magazine published by District Administration Nicobars on the occasion of silver jubilee formation of the district Nicobar in the year 2000. She also participated in more than 18 International seminar/conferences/workshops etc. and 21 National Seminars/workshop etc. she is teaching Ayurveda to the students of one year diploma in Yoga at Morarji National Institutde of Yoga, New Delhi since 2004.

Gold Medal- Late Dr. Treta Nath Tiwari Memorial Gold Medal in Medicine (Kaya Chikitsa)

Sh. Ram Narayan Sharma (Sh. Vaidyanath Ayurvedic Bhawan Ltd. Memorial Gold Medal (First in order of merit in University). Champion - All India Ayurveda Badminton and Table Tennis Championship.

Prizes - Got multiple prizes in various Culture activities like singing, dancing, play etc. during her colleging.
- Won a prize in Women's Era Family Car Rally 2004 New Delhi.

AyurvedaVishishta Seva Puruskar" for work done for promotion and propagation of Ayurveda in various ways in 2005.

Ayurveda Bhushan Puruskar for her services towards research in Ayurveda.

Akashwani - she is also cleared audition test in Akashwani and participated in comparing of various programs, health talk interviews, questionaries, quiz etc. Rajkot (Gujrat), Port Blair (A & N Islands) and AIR, New Delhi.

Doordarshan- she has also passed screening test for Doordarshan and was announcer, comparer, narrator, back ground voicer in the Doordarshan Kendra, Raipur (Chattisgarh) and participated in various talks, interviews, quiz from Doordarshan Kendra, Port Blair. She had also prepared a documentary film on Research Activities of Tribal Health Care Research Project at Carnicobar with the help of Doordarshan Team Portblair, which was telecasted from DDI in August 05, 2000.

Conduction - she compared the cultural program of the visit of Shri. Krishna Kant, Honorable Vice President of India at Carnicobar in the year 1999.

She also conducted successfully a number of VIP's visit in Indian Airforce (AFWWA) Women Welfare Association.

Projection & Propagation - She projected a plan for Expansion of Ayurveda in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to Sh. I. P. Gupta, Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

A veracious leading personality, good singer, a Kaththak Dancer keen for social welfare and serve to mankind, participated in various program of women health, and Air Force Women Welfare Association (AFWWA), is also having keen interest in writing.
